The Real Food Summit, held at Yale November 3-4, brought together students from across the northeast to advance the incorporation of local and sustainable foods at college campuses. Four UNH students were there to add their perspectives to the mix: senior Liz Joseph, sophomore Sara Turner, freshman Kathleen Markiewicz, and senior, Tristan Williams, who also gave a presentation on UNH’s Compost Program. About the summit, Liz says: “I’ve learned that many women and men are dissatisfied and angry about our culture’s relationship to the environment, especially the damage caused by our mainstream system of food production. In response, I’ve seen a desire and passion to challenge those systems and cultivate a movement towards a more prolific future.” Click here to find out more about the summit and read the Real Food Declaration.
